Single Trip Travel Insurance FAQ's

Frequently asked questions about Single Trip Travel Insurance.

Will you cover my pre-existing medical conditions?

We can cover most pre-existing medical conditions – because something you live with day to day shouldn’t stop you seeing the world.

Your pre-existing medical conditions need to be outlined on your medical cover, including common conditions such as high blood pressure, or diabetes. If anything changes between taking out your policy and going on holiday, you must let us know.

Who can be covered by single trip insurance?

There’s no upper age limit on our Single Trip Travel Insurance, so you can insure the whole family. You might even get your cover for less, as families and couples living at the same address get an automatic discount on their policy. We also cover most pre-existing medical conditions.

Annual vs Single Trip Travel Insurance: what’s the difference?

Single trip holiday insurance could be the perfect option if you are planning a one-off holiday. Annual Multi-Trip Insurance, on the other hand, is more suited to frequent jetsetters. It can cover you for multiple trips throughout a 12-month period – you can travel as many times as you want up to a total of 183 days. How long you can spend abroad in one go depends on your age.

Does single trip travel insurance cover cancellation?

Yes! With Single Trip travel insurance, cancellation cover kicks in as soon as you take out your cover. Cancellation cover applies to circumstances that are both outside of your control, and you were unaware of when you bought your policy.

It takes care of things like:

  • You, a close relative, somebody your travelling with or somebody you’ve arranged to stay with suffers an unforeseen illness, injury or death
  • Your trip departure is delayed by more than 12 hours
  • You, or anybody you’re planning to travel with is called for Jury Service
  • You’re made redundant and you qualify for a redundancy payout.
How much is single trip travel insurance?

How much single trip travel insurance costs varies depending on the type of cover you need. The cost is also affected by how likely you are to make a claim either before, or during, your holiday. Factors like your age, any pre-existing medical conditions that you have, where you’re travelling to and any optional extras you choose can all have an impact.

Is single trip insurance more expensive?

Single trip insurance can be cheaper than annual cover if you’re going on a one-off holiday. But if there’s a chance you’ll be travelling more than once in the next 12 months, an Annual Multi-Trip policy could work out to be cheaper per trip. It all depends on how many trips you make over the next year — if you’re only going on one or two holidays, a single trip policy will likely be the most cost-effective option.

When should I start my cover?

You should take out a policy as soon as you book your trip to make sure you’re covered for unforeseen events that might mean you have to cancel. You might be able to buy a single trip policy from us up to 24 months before you travel – depending on your age.

What counts as a single trip for travel insurance?

A single trip is a one-off holiday that begins when you leave your home, and ends when you get back home. You can visit multiple destinations during your travels, but you’re limited to being away for a maximum of up to 104 days.
